Commitment to Diversity

At Publish Your Purpose (PYP), our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion stems from a deep understanding of the transformative power of storytelling. We believe that every voice deserves to be heard, and we strive to uplift those often overlooked in the publishing world. This commitment is personal for our founder and CEO, Jenn T. Grace, whose own experiences have shaped the ethos of our organization.

Jenn’s journey began in a hot water tank factory, where, at a young age, she was one of only four women in a predominantly male environment. This experience taught her invaluable lessons about resilience and navigating a challenging workplace. “Working in that factory, I learned that if you put in the effort and do your job well, you can succeed despite the odds stacked against you. It reinforced the idea that, at our core, we are all human and seeking the same basic needs, regardless of our differences.” This foundational understanding of humanity drives PYP’s mission to create an inclusive platform for all authors.

Furthermore, Jenn faced significant challenges when she entered the corporate world as an openly LGBTQ individual. “My first job out of college made it clear that being ‘out’ in an office could be a double-edged sword. Surrounded by bigoted attitudes, I quickly realized that I was not welcome in that environment. Despite my efforts to foster change, I learned that true progress requires commitment. I vowed never to allow such treatment in any space I would lead, and I carry that promise forward to this day.” This personal commitment is reflected in PYP’s dedication to creating a welcoming environment for all voices.

At PYP, we work tirelessly to uplift underrepresented voices, ensuring that diverse authors have the opportunity to share their unique stories and experiences. We are dedicated to addressing inequalities within our systems, programs, and services, recognizing that the journey toward equity is ongoing.

Our purpose is clear: by championing diverse narratives, we contribute to a richer, more inclusive literary landscape, fostering connections that celebrate our shared humanity.

Actions and Our Purpose

Some of the commitments that PYP is making to promote diversity and inclusion:

  • PYP is a proud member of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC).
  • We work with diverse thought leaders and business owners who have a story to tell. We help provide a platform to elevate their stories and experiences to the communities that they are trying to reach.
  • PYP is woman-owned and LGBTQ+ owned and operated. We have a diverse team of people who are committed to bringing our authors’ stories to life.

Our Internal Goals

We strive to cultivate and share voices from diverse communities. Therefore, our metrics include:

  • 50% or more authors from communities of color
  • 50% or more authors from the LGBTQ+ community
  • 50% or more women authors

Our purpose is to bring to life the stories of diverse business owners and thought leaders who want to make a positive impact in their communities by sharing their stories and experiences.

We passionately believe the more raw and real we can be—the deeper the connections we can experience. This drives our fierce commitment to bring voice to the invisible stories that free people from their isolation.

PYP commits to this Equity Statement and will continue to improve upon it, aiming for outcomes at the highest level set in the publishing industry.
