Yes, Lady Gaga is known as a chameleon. She recently made a return to some vintage Gaga avant garde scene-stealing, with her horned outfit on the red carpet for Joker: Folie à Deux at Venice Film Festival. (Remember that haute couture striptease at the 2019 Met Gala and let us not forget the meat dress.) But, aside from a few flirtations with other shades, one of the signatures Lady Gaga is most-known for, is her long platinum blonde hair.

Last month, she surprised fans with what looked like a jet-black lob, but her recent red carpets confirmed she'd returned to blonde. That is, until Vogue released the October cover on 5th September which featured Gaga with a wholeeee new look.

In the picture, the singer swapped in a shaggy, deep-red semi wet-looking bob created by hair stylist and wig designer, Frederic Aspiras. The inspiration, in line with her new film, was Folie à Deux (French for madness of two). Also known as shared psychosis or shared delusional disorder, it's a condition that leads the narrative of the new Joker film, which sees the Joker and his musical therapist Lee (Lady Gaga) experience musical madness together through shared delusions.

Red and yellow are two colours that the duo are regularly seen it during the film, so the red hair, red lip and yellow eyeshadow, paired with a loose interpretation of clown makeup paid tribute to the movie.

Given Lady Gaga was already back blonde for the press run, we know that this was just a temporary wig, but it's proof once again that Lady Gaga can pull off anything. In fact, we reckon a longer-term fling with red hair colour would be a whole moment.
